Rutland County Audubon Society: RCAS' 1st Day of Spring phenology walk was phenomenally attended !

Rutland County Audubon Society issued the following announcement on March 21.

RCAS' 1st Day of Spring phenology walk was phenomenally attended ! 17 enthusiastic hikers traversed the new boardwalk trail on Whipple Hollow Rd .While signs of spring were in short supply as yet, spirits and camaraderie made up for it. Noted signs were: MUD, thinning ice, pussy willows off in the distance, a few green shoots, and Witch's Fungi. Birds present were: Robins, Song Sparrows, Red breasted Nuthatch, Ruffed Grouse, Red winged Blackbirds, and Canada Geese. The leader of the group, Samantha Beck of Audubon VT, will return at a later date when more phenological signs are present. Stay tuned!
