Relay For Life of Rutland County issued the following announcement.
Meet our 2022 Survivor Speaker, Cathy Louttit
Join us at opening ceremonies on June 25th at 1pm to hear Cathy’s story.
I first began Relay for Life about 11 years ago when my sister's cancer returned. My sister was able to come to each Relay to participate in the Survivor Luncheon along with her Survivor and Cargiver husband. In January 2016 Nancy lost her courageous and graceful battle with cancer and we had to say goodbye. She was brave and strong and never complained about her chemo or radiation issues. Two months after I lost her, I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer. After two surgeries, chemo and radiation, I have now been cancer free for over 5 years. I talked to her quietly a lot during that time to ask her to help me to be as brave and gracious as she had been. I don't think I was as strong as her but the strength I had came from her and those around me who love me. I know far too many people who have been affected by cancer including my family members and close friends.
2020 and 2021 have been a very challenging years for everybody. Hopefully things are beginning to look up. Rutland County Relay for Life will be having our event this year at the fairgrounds on June 25 and 26! We are very excited!
Let's all donate and walk to end this. Some year soon I want to send you a message to say that Relay for Life this year will be replaced by an It's Over Celebration! Thank you and much love, Cathy
