PUBLIC WORKS: The Town of Castleton is accepting applications to fill a full-time Department of Public Works Department vacancy. Applicants must be physically able to perform strenuous manual labor in all weather conditions and must currently have a valid Class B CDL (manual transmission). Typical construction season job requirements are, but not limited to, driving dump trucks, operating roadside mowers, driving a Freightliner trash roll-off, operating a sidewalk/street sweeper, using a variety of hand and power tools, cutting down trees, and performing other duties as assigned. During the winter months duties will include unscheduled road maintenance (plowing), sidewalk snow removal, vehicle maintenance, tree removal, and performing other duties as assigned. The ability to operate a backhoe, front-end loader, grader, and a skid steer is a plus.  The application process can be found online on the Town of Castleton website or by stopping by the Town Office located at 263 Route 30 North in Castleton. This position is full-time AFSCME Union position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is determined by the collective bargaining agreement with some flexibility based on qualifications and experience. The position will remain open until filled. Castleton is an E.O.E.
